Phase 1

For Phase 1, I don’t think I did too bad. I wrote a really strong essay (my language literacy narrative) and got a 92. I also wrote some really good discussion posts. Like for example, I wrote a good response on Amy Tan’s Mother Tongue. In that assignment, I wrote about how my language at my house connects back to the story. There was another discussion post that I did really well on. I believe that was the one about First Drafts. For that one, I really let out my thoughts and reflected on how writing a first draft is important because no matter what it’s going to be bad. You might as well write out literally whatever comes to mind because it’s going to need to be refined at a later time.

However, there were a lot of things that I could’ve done better in Phase 1. Like for example, I turned in a lot of assignments late. Most of the homeworks that were assigned I was late to do. For example, even though I turned in the first response on time, I didn’t really turn in anything else on time from there. My first draft for the language literacy draft was late, which meant that I lost some points on it. I also did not participate in class as much as I could’ve. Even though I struggle to focus during my online classes, I believe that I could’ve tried harder to raise my hand at least once per class. Also, for the first in-person class, I showed up very late. Despite the fact that the trains were delayed, all I had to do was leave my house earlier and I wouldn’t have had to deal with late trains.

Overall, my first Phase for English 110 wasn’t bad. I was doing great in the class at first, especially with homework, but then I started going off track. My participation wasn’t strong, homeworks were turned in late, and I missed a key deadline with my first draft.
